A rainforest and waterfall tour was scheduled for today. It started to bucket down with rain just as we were getting ready, but thankfully cleared up by the time our boat taxi arrived.
Into a mini-van for the morning to be taken high up into the hills. We went into the Syndicate forest and then the Milton falls. The first walk was pleasant with cleared trails and lots of large tall trees and ferns to admire. The girls were happy walking but of course their pace meant we would never get to the falls, so some carrying and piggyback rides were in order!
As we drove to and from the sites our new guide, Uncle Sam, pointed out all the various trees and crops that were growing. Pineapple, coffee, nutmeg, lime, grapefruit, yukka, passion-fruit, bananas, I even saw a hydroponic-looking shed with lettuces growing. It was old plantation land now divided up among farmers who each have their own crops. I guess they know which section is theirs, but to me it was just an endless array of plants growing everywhere!
