It took all day, quite a bit of man power and determination but we left the marina at 4pm today.... Yay!
We headed over to Little Harbour for the start of our trip.
After almost 2 weeks at Nanny Cay we've had a lot of work done. The stainless steel guys have rectified the davits and welded arial mounts. They also added a bracket for the second bow anchor and installed rope and fender tie up points in the sail locker. The entire seam between the hull and deck has been removed and replaced along with a cracked transom - all warranty work. There were a handful of other teething issues which Michel handled for us with a minimum of fuss. He and his wife Michelle (two Michels can be confusing for adults and 2 year olds alike!) were great hosts and helped us leave with final advice and slipped our lines. A few days ago he also handed us our new gennaker and sock, all neatly folded in plastic, fresh from the sail loft in Germany.
We are anchored in Little harbour tonight in 14 meters of water just off the shore. Our oversize, super high-holding power anchor and miles of chain is proving very effective at keeping us in our chosen place. When that was well dug in we took an exploritory trip in the dinghy and found a treasure chest (rusty fuel drum) and dinosaur (The blow up green variety from another boat) and noted what we would do first in the dinghy first thing tomorrow. Tomorrow has been declared a day of no jobs in celebration of being on the hook! First full day off since arriving early February!
