Since we had such a wonderful time here, it deserves it's own posting!
I think our week in Bora Bora will be remembered as one of our best weeks on an island. We hardly set foot on land, but instead stuck to the sea, enjoying all it had to offer.
The beautiful, renowned lagoon of Bora Bora was on display, with shades of turquoise in its’ reflection in the clouds, before we could even see it for ourselves. We meet up with our friends in a quiet anchorage off of the Hilton Hotel villas overlooking the water, and I just thought, we have the same view. It’s just perfect.

The water was crystal clear and we could see the bottom (30-40ft) as if there was no water at all and we enjoyed seeing stingray and eagle rays frequenting the area. One day we snorkelled with lots of sergeant majors and damsel fish eagerly awaiting a treat (of which we didn’t have). Another time Joel had gone off exploring and found some red coral….on closer inspection it was an anemone and yes, clown fish were there! A few snaps of the camera to capture the moment for everyone. It is disappointing the girls still won’t put their heads in to see, but they are thrilled to be swimming amongst it all.
Another day we dinghied over closer to the reef, where the water shallows to 6-8ft. Fantastic coral heads abundant with glorious tropical fish were everywhere. It was hard to know where to explore and look. I saw some tiny marine life in the form of Christmas tree worms, and a pipefish, as well as giant clams in a variety of colours. It was difficult to leave this ideal spot, but fingers were getting wrinkled and little people tired.
One night the ladies went for drinks at the Hilton. It was so great to be poolside and enjoying the enormous cocktail that was ordered. Unfortunately the heavens opened up before we had left, and our less than 5 minute dinghy ride back, turned into a very wet and windy wild ride! With a dry towel waiting for me onboard, Joel was a welcome sight.

We also had a great few days at the beach. The water was warm and inviting and the girls enjoyed splashing about in the sun and building castles in the sand. Like I said, it was a super week enjoyed with our friends, Stu and Chante and their girls, Isla and Paige. The morning playdates, and afternoon drinks –often followed by spontaneous dinners onboard were delightful and we wouldn't have had the same experience without the company.
After two months in French Polynesia, it was time to finally move on and discover some more places in the Pacific. We had a final farewell morning with our friends on Koru, the girls hanging out for the morning while we prepared the boat to go. It was a sad occasion as we finally said goodbye, we only wish we could have had more time here.
